Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes do the kits come in?

Our standard models provide 20 or 40 feet space between the containers (inside edges). All kits are 20 feet long and multiple can be connected end-to-end.

How large of a span can the kits have?

40 feet maximum space between the containers

What do the measurements refer to?

Our measurements are typically shown as width x length. The width is the total span across which is from container to container. The length refers to the measurement along the containers and along the roof ridge line.

What measurement does “space” refer to in the descriptions?

It is the measurement between the containers, inside edge to inside edge.

Can your kits be used on 40 feet length containers?

Yes. You will need two kits which are 20’ long each. They’ll connect together end-to-end to create the 40’ length without any gaps.

Can I use multiple kits in a row to create a longer space?

Yes. You may connect as many kits end-to-end as you like. There won’t be any gaps between kits.

How do the kits connect to the containers?

We use our own bracket system to lock them into the container corner pin point holes.

What are the wind and snow load ratings?

The kits come with standard ratings of 70 mph for wind and 25 pounds per square foot for snow. Kits can be designed for higher ratings.

Are all necessary parts provided in the kits?

Yes. All parts needed to construct your kit will be included. Equipment, sealant and the containers are not included.

What are the peak heights of your kits?

They are:

GB36 – 12.5’
GB56 – 14.6’
GM20 – 13.7’
GM25 – 14.7’
GM40 – 17.9’

What are the slopes of your kits?

The GB36 and GB56 gable roofs have a 2-3/12 pitch, 12.7 degrees slope.

GB5630 gable roof has a 7/12 pitch, 30 degrees slope.

The gambrel units have an upper – 5/12 pitch, 23 degrees slope and Lower – 7/12 pitch, 30 degrees slope.

The slopes may vary depending on the exact roof design.

Is any welding needed?

No welding is required.

Can kits include eaves or overhangs?

No. We don’t currently offer that option.

Are the parts weather resistant?

Yes. All parts are ready to be used outdoors and weather resistant.

Do I need large equipment to construct Podroof® kits?

If you construct your kit in place, you’ll need support for the rafters until connected. If you construct your kit on the ground, you’ll need a crane or other lifting equipment for placing it onto the containers.

Do you offer optional walls for the ends?

No. We don’t currently offer this option.

How long does it take to construct a kit?

The time varies depending on the quantity, type of kits, experience, weather, install location and equipment. An average for a single, small kit is one work day.

Can your kits be dis-assembled, moved and re-assembled?

Yes, they are designed with this in mind.

How are the kits shipped?

The large, structure parts are shipped on a flatbed truck. The small parts are shipped by common truck carrier.

Are instructions provided?

Yes. Instruction manuals and basic diagrams are provided after an order is placed.
